![]() ![]() Not every Infamous Monster can be considered a viable option for battle on their own, and some could even be considered as near useless joke monsters however these joke characters usually show their true potential if they are organized in the right Teams.When a recruited monster is released in the wild, they will return to their original location, and have to be defeated again in order to reclaim them, with no further repercussions.If there is no room left when adding a newly recruited monster, an owned monster needs to be released in order to add it to the team or the new monster needs to be let go.Recruited monsters can be switched between the Monster Teams and Reserve Teams at any time and released at any time.Unlike other titles were monsters can be recruited and used in battle, such as Dragon Quest V or Dragon Quest VI, Infamous Monsters cannot be equipped with any type of weapon, armour, or accessory.Reserve Teams and an additional Monster Team can be unlocked as rewards for beating certain ranked battles at the Monster Arena, allowing the ownership of even more monsters.Recruited monsters do not level up like normal party members, instead their statistics scale with the level of the Hero, resulting in them progressively growing more powerful.Infamous Monsters must first be defeated in order to recruit them.In the 3DS version, where monster encounters are visible, they have a word bubble above their head containing two orange crossed swords in order to distinguish them they are also visible from much farther away unlike the other standard encounters. ![]() In the PS2 version they appear as the only roaming encounters, as in both dungeons and the field map, monster encounters are randomly generated and invisible.These Infamous Monsters are identified by different means depending on the version of the game: Only specific monsters can be recruited, and they are known as Infamous Monsters. ![]()
